What are Wax Melts?
Wax melts are scented pieces of wax and unlike candles, do not contain a wick. A Wax Melt is usually scented with fragrance oils and come in all different shapes and sizes! They are designed to be slowly warmed until they melt, emitting a scent throw that will fill your room.
Why use Wax Melts instead of Candles?
Candles are commitment to one scent, Wax Melts however are small chunks of experimentation or familiarity, once their scent has been fully used up you can simply clean out the old one and pop a new one in! Wax Melts have also been proven to save money and last longer than a standard small candle. Unlike candles, the wax does not evaporate; only the scent dissipates.
What is a Fragrance Oil?
Fragrance Oils are non-volatile oils (scents that are volatile evaporate quickly into the environment) that last longer than essential oils. Essential oils are a lot stronger than Fragrance Oils and are therefore used in a smaller % in products. Due to their volatility, they aren't commonly used in Wax Melts or Home Fragrances as they do not last as long. All LasScent products are formulated using Fragrance Oils.
What is CLP & why is it important?
CLP stands for Classification Labelling and Packaging of Chemical Substances and Mixtures. It is a regulation that came into force in 2008. CLP ensures that all products that contain harmful substances are labelled appropriately with all relevant warnings. Certain fragrance oils contain compounds that can cause some adverse effects such as skin sensitisation, some oils also may be harmful to the environment or cause potential allergic reactions to those that have an adversity to particular ingredients. CLP labelling clearly states the ingredients that contribute to these particular warnings and instructs on what to do incase an adverse effect or environmental hazard occurs. All LasScent products are labelled with full CLP warning stickers and any relevant information to ensure your safety is protected when using our products.
CLP is a legal obligation that companies must adhere to - all your Wax Melts/ Home Fragrance Products should be labelled according to the legislation.
What is Scent Throw?
Scent Throw is the term used to describe the strength of fragrance that a Wax Melt/ Candle or Scented Product contains. Cold Throw is how much the product gives off when the wax is solid, whereas Hot Throw is how much aroma the product gives off when melted. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with products that give you optimum scent throw, using a higher percentage of fragrance oil than other brands means that you can smell your product no matter where you are in the room.
I want to use one of your Wax Melts, how much should I use?
We recommend that you use either 1 chunk of our 5 segment Snap Bars or 2 segments of our 10 segment Snap Bars. This will provide you up to 8h of scent.
Why do you use Soy Wax?
We love our environment, therefore we want to do everything we can to protect it. Soy wax is a natural, renewable resource. It is biodegradable and cleans up with soap and hot water. Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax and because of this, our products will burn slower and longer than those made from paraffin.
What other environmentally-friendly resources do you use?
As well as using Soy Wax, we use biodegradable glitter & mica powder in all our products. Our Snap Bar packaging is recyclable, as well as our labels and postage boxes.
We are working hard on making all our packaging recyclable!
